FOOD
Food is an example of how certain hobbies can become part of your profession if you invest time in them. My interest in food and cooking has allowed me to learn in depth about many processes used in many cultures. Also, having worked in a high end restaurant myself I could say I have a first hand deep appreciation of the techniques.
TEXTILES
My interest in textiles has lead me to work and collaborate with several small textile companies in different countries. My experience working with them has enhanced my knowledge on textile terminology in certain specific fields: manufacture of wool in all its processes from shearing to the weaving. It id definitely one of my strenghts now.
MECHANICAL ENGINEER
I think that for someone to definitively learn new things they have to experience them first hand. So working several years as a translator for a multinational car manufacturer has allowed to learn field terminology and have better understanding of it. I can now confidently translate texts of great technicality int he mechanical engineering field
